BDHC Calendar Competition 2025

Our calendar competition is open to all members to submit photographs for inclusion in the 2026 BDHC Calendar

Your favourite photographs will have a good chance of winning a place in the Calendar if they capture a particular essence of hills or walks.

See below for details and how to enter:

The photographic prints will be organised and exhibited at the Club Slide Night on Friday 12th September when all members present will vote for the photographs for our 2026 Club Calendar

There is no "entry date" this year. Just bring your printed photographs along to the Sldie Evening.

Notes and guidance:

  • Photographs must be your own work.
  • Photographs should be of hills or walks in Scotland, elsewhere in the UK or in Ireland.
  • You can enter a maximum of 6 photographs
  • Keep in mind that the calendars are a club fundraiser and therefore we wish photographs to have a wide general appeal for sale to members, family and friends. Any people in scenes should be incidental, for example as a distant focal point or for scale
  • To fit the requirement for the Calendar pages your photograph(s) must be in landscape layout (horizontal)
  • A4 size prints are preferred for easy and fair comparison when members are voting although smaller sizes are not excluded.
  • Each photographic print should have all the photographer/photograph details on the back. An info form should be sellotaped on the back, or the details can be simply written on the back. You can download details labels here to print, complete and attach to your photograph(s).
  • High resolution images are necessary for A4 printing. Photographs that are not of good enough quality may be rejected by the committee.
  • After the competition the winning entries should then be emailed as a digital file to the club committee (MAXIMUM SIZE 20 MByte)

The Information required for each entry / photograph is

  • Photographer’s name, email & telephone.
  • The month or season of the year when the image was taken.
  • The location.
  • A title.

Printing your photographs

if you don't have access to a photo quality printer or paper then getting your photos printed at a commerical printer is a good option. The Blair Copy shop (links to Facebook info) has provided this service to some members in the past. Address: 18 Reform Street, Blairgowrie. Phone: 01250 873591.

How to submit your entry:

Just bring your printed photographs (with the information on the back of each one) to the slide evening on the 12th of September and hand to a member of committee at the viewing tables

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS/FILES

These are NOT needed by the committee until after the results of the competition. Please do not send any unless requested by a committee member.

If one or more of your photographs are selected for the Calendar then you will need to supply the digital version to the club. This may be done by sending a memory stick with the files or sending the files by email. Instructions will be given after the competition results are known.
