Strathpeffer Week-end

The Club Spring weekend was held at Strathpeffer on 30th May to 2nd June and was once again well attended.

The weather over the weekend was changeable with heavy rain at times, squally showers and low cloud. Nonetheless, the party didn't let that stop them from having a successful weekend. On Saturday one group reached the summit of Ben Wyvis, first Munro for Kirsty Gilson.

A second group travelled to Auchnasheen and completed a climb to the top and back of Fionn Beinn. A third group travelled to Strathconnon and conquered two remote Corbett's, Meallan nan Uan and Sgurr a' Mhuillinn. Three further members also captured the Corbett, Sgorr na Diollaid between Strathfarrer and Glen Cannich. A final pairing explored local walks around Strathfarrer climbing through woods to viewpoints where a wide variety of birdlife was noted.

Overall although the cloud was low walkers enjoyed seeing intermittent views of the countryside in this scenic and beautiful part of the country. As normal the groups all came together on the Saturday evening to share stories and enjoy social time together. Several members extended the weekend and travel further on to areas such as Sutherland, Scourie, Handa Island and Cape Wrath.
