The Club had a walk on Sunday 1st April where the destination was the Monadhliath Mountains, West of Newtonmore, with the starting point for all three suggested walks being at Garva Bridge. The first group followed the Corrieyairack pas to General Wades Military Road and returned by a reverse of the same route. The second group headed north and west to the summit of the Corbett, Meall na h-Aisre in the Sherramore Forrest area and also returned by their route of ascent. The third and final group climbed north east to the Summit of Geal Charn a splendid Munro with magnificent views in all directions. This group completed a circular walk descending over Beinn Sgiath and back to Garva Bridge. All groups recorded the very best of walking conditions for many years with firm snow underfoot, blue skies above and no wind. Visibility was very clear and mountain tops many miles away could clearly be identified. The groups reported sightings of Red deer, Sika deer, mountain Hares and voles scurrying through the undergrowth on the lower slopes. There were also reports of Golden eye, Red Grouse, Black Grouse and a Golden Eagle soaring high above. A most enjoyable and memorable day was had by all. The next Club outing is to Lochnagar on Sunday 22nd April. Members and visitors can find details of the walk and registration on the Club web page

The Blairgowrie and District Hillwalking Club held their AGM on Friday 30th March, with a good turn out of members in attendance. Retiring President Stuart Nichol welcomed members and gave a report on the years activities. Stuart also announced that the Club is now entering it's 40th year and several events have been organised in celebration. The highlight of these Celebrations will be a dinner at the Blairgowrie Golf Club on Saturday 13th October, and the Club have invited Mark Beaumont as an after dinner speaker.Members were advised to make early application for dinner tickets. A new committee was then installed into office with Ian Cameron taking over as President and Phil Seymour as Vice president, other members were unchanged from last year.
