Ben Tirran - Sunday 19th November 2017

Posted By at Monday, November 20, 2017

On Sunday 19th November 21 members visited Glen Clova for a Winter's walk which started in bright sunshine, with a cool wind, but perfect conditions for walking. Everyone set off from The Clova Hotel and climbed up to Loch Brandy, up over the Snub where morning coffee and refreshments were taken sheltered from the wind.

From there everyone climbed Green Hill where the party split some walking over the Brae of Rags and down the Shank of Catstrae to the road and back to the start whilst the second group continued to walk along the very broad ridge to The highest point on these hill The Goet at 896 metres and the over Ben Tirran and down to the shores of Loch Wharral where lunch was taken in the recently constructed bothy, complete with log burning stove, candles, cushions and a large table. Seldom is lunch taken in such "posh" surroundings!. After lunch the party cut cross country and back the the start at The Clova Hotel where well earned refreshments were taken. Much wildlife was spotted or heard including some mountain hares sporting their white coats ready for the onset of Winter proper.
